How to Block Websites on Your iPhone?


Blocking websites is a handy feature for any device that is used for browsing the internet. You may not know how to block websites on your iPhone, and it is effortless to block any website on an iPhone. iOS devices have a feature that allows its user to block content, and you can also manually block specific sites from your device. If you want to prevent a site from opening on your device to keep your children safe, then you can easily block them. In this article, you will learn how to block content and some specific websites manually in your device.




Blocking Websites on iOS 12 or Newer Devices 
iOS has a feature called "Screen Time," which offers the opportunity to block websites on your device. It can also track the app usage and allow you to set restrictions for some particular apps. This will enable you to keep an eye on your child's activity and block specific content on your iPhone to keep them safe. Here' how to use it:

Step 1
1. Head to the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Go to the "Screen Time" option.
3. Click on the "Content & Privacy Restrictions" option.
There you can see many options to restrict and block almost every kind of content on your device.

Step 2
1. To restrict some sites and other sensitive content on your iPhone, go to "Content Restrictions."
2. Now tap on the "Web Content" option and then select "Limit Websites" to block content and sites on your device. You can also tap on the "Allowed Websites Only" to set up some restriction on browsing the internet. 

If you want to clock only some specific sites from your device, then you should select the "Limit Certain Websites" option. There you will be able to add URL of sites that you want to block and the websites that you want to allow. 

If you wish to allow only some specific kids-friendly sites on your device such as Disney, HowStuffWorks, and Discovery Kids, then you must choose the "Allowed Websites Only" option. This will block all other sites on your device, and your kid will be limited to the sites that you have allowed. Keep in mind that this method will only work on the iOS 12 or later iOS devices.
The "Screen Time" features are only available in these versions. If you are using an older iOS devices than the iOS 12, then see the next method for older devices. 

How to Restrict or Block Websites in iOS 11?  
As discussed above if you are using an older iPhone or iPad that is running on iOS 11, then you should follow this method to block websites. Here's how to restrict content and websites on iOS 11:
1. Go to the Settings.
2. Head to the "General" option.
3. Now find and choose the "Restrictions" option. 
4. Tap "Enable Restrictions" on your iPad or iPhone.
5. Now you will be asked to enter your device's passcode, so enter your passcode. If it asks to enter the passcode again, then do so. 
6. Now you will have to tap "Allowed Content" options, and then you will need to hit the "Websites" options.
7. There you will be redirected to websites restriction settings where you can add URL manually to block them on your device. 
8. Now you will see the same options as we told you in the first method that applies to the iOS 12 or later models.
Choose the most appropriate option according to your requirements. This is how to restrict and block websites on an iPhone or iPad.
